In this talk we review our computational model for fluid structure interaction problems and we discuss some aspects related to its numerical approximation. Starting from the properties of unconditional time stability, we discuss some computational challenges. These include the integration of the coupling term and the parallelization of the code. Recent results show that our method is stable even in presence of small cut cells and provide an estimate to the condition number of the monolithic system.
